Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton has revealed that having a newborn son has been very "emotional" but rewarding.

His son, named Mario Armando Lavandeira III, was born on February 16 and was born via a surrogate mother who was artificially inseminated with a donor egg. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times about being a first-time father, he explained:

"The other day I locked myself in the bathroom and started crying because in addition to my brain feeling loopy, I really have felt super hormonal and emotional. Wow, I really am a dad now and it's awesome."

He is a single father to Mario and confessed that it was a strong decision to make: "I knew it was going to happen this way because boyfriends and husbands may come and go, but kids are forever."
