Study shows that Robbie Williams and Sir Elton John's music help 'ease pain'

Research by Lloyds Pharmacy has shown that people suffering from chronic pain found relief in the music of Robbie Williams and Sir Elton John.

'Angels' by Williams, along with Sir Elton's 'Candle In The Wind' and Simon and Garfunkel's 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', have proven to be the most popular songs in this strange study with around 40% of the people surveyed naming them as tracks that help soothe strains and aches.

An astonishing 66% of young people said that music helped them to feel better with pop being confirmed as the most influential genre. Classical, rock, and indie music followed closely behind.

Meanwhile, Williams recently told a British newspaper that Take That bandmate and lifelong friend Gary Barlow has been a constant pillar of support to him throughout his life: "I always call Gary - he can sort out any personal dilemma. Oh my lord, he's like a Swiss army knife. I needed something desperately the other night, I can't say what, but he sorted it out in a matter of minutes."
