Newly formed supergroup McBusted have opened up about their chosen bandname and described it as the best of a really bad bunch.

Speaking to Digital Spy at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year awards, the lads explained that they tried several different band name combinations, but McBusted was the only one that seemed to work:

"We've gone through regretting it and now we embrace it. Now we think, 'Actually it's so s**t, we quite like it'."

"There was a really s**t list of names and this was the only possible one. It was the best of a really bad bunch [including] Busfly, they were all on there. I challenge all of you to work out a better one, there really isn't one."

Member Matt Willis, meanwhile, has admitted that he thinks the group's 2014 arena tour is likely to light the creative spark and could initiate some brand new songwriting:

"We've always written songs on tour and we have a pretty lengthy tour next year, so hopefully that will spark some new songs. We're taking each days as it comes. We only intended to release nine dates and we thought we were being f**king cocky doing that. Now it's 35, it just keeps getting bigger."
