Paramore's Hayley Williams to receive first-ever Billboard Trailblazer award

Rocker Hayley Williams, of Paramore fame, has been announced as the winner of the first-ever Billboard Trailblazer Award at the 2014 ninth annual Billboard Women in Music Awards.

The ceremony is due to be held on December 12 in New York City and the 'Still Into You' songstress will be honoured with the prize for being a 'standout female artist who breaks from convention to make a unique mark in music and pave the way for other talent'.

Speaking about being named the recipient of the award in a statement, the star explained: "I can remember a time when I would've been made fun of for doing things differently. Now I'm getting an award for it? This is too much. I’m so excited! There are women in this industry who totally bulldozed walls down for the likes of me to come along and do what I believe in. I want to be that for even one girl in the future. I can't wait for the event next month and to high-five some of my sisters in music."

Ariana Grande, meanwhile, will be given the Billboard Rising Star Award and told the magazine that she's overwhelmed by the exciting news: "To be recognised alongside some of the most influential women in the music business is such an incredible honour. Receiving the 'Rising Star' award is truly amazing and I'm extremely grateful!"
