Robbie Williams to have streets named after him for 40th birthday

'Candy' hitmaker Robbie Williams will be honoured by his home city of Stoke-on-Trent next month in the name of his 40th birthday, it has been confirmed.

The superstar will have streets in the area named after some of his songs and will also be given a special 'Robbie Day' to celebrate the milestone, which falls on February 13. The city's council announced that a blue plaque will also be put up near to his childhood home.

Streets on a new housing estate in Middleport will be named 'Angels Way', 'Candy Lane' and 'Supreme Street', and Council leader Mohammed Pervez explained the decision in a statement:

"He is a global superstar, but one who has always remembered his roots. He is very proud of his connections to Stoke-on-Trent and the celebrations will not only attract people from the city, but from across the country and even further afield."
