5 Seconds of Summer's parents were initially unsure about the group leaving school

5 Seconds of Summer have admitted that their parents were at first hesitant over the band's decision to drop school and enter the music industry.

The band formed in 2011 whilst in school in Australia and young group have now gone on to achieve worldwide fame.

However, it seems their mothers and fathers weren't initially too happy about the lads choosing music over school.

Calum Hood told KIIS 1065: "They were kind of like 'Why would you want to join a band?'."

Ashton Irwin, however, added: "They had faith for some reason and they really got behind it in the end."

The drummer then went on to say that he used to work in a video shop before he got famous.
