5SOS find solace in the studio: 'We get our emotions out there'

Australian pop-punkers 5 Seconds Of Summer recently sat down for an interview with Shazam and opened up about their achievements so far and how they find time to recharge now that they're internationally known.

Guitarist Michael Clifford explained that he really likes their breakthrough hit single and he would consider that song to be something he is very proud of: "I think I'm most proud of 'She Looks So Perfect'. It's cool that we've written a song that has had such mainstream success. It's cool that we combined rock and pop, and it's catchy."

The band's drummer, Ashton Irwin, added that he loves performing their ballad, 'Beside You', because it creates such an intense atmosphere live: "I really love playing 'Beside You' live. It's a great ballad and I love playing it in big places. The song was born to be played in bigger places and it's amazing when everyone has their lights up in the air."

Irwin went onto add that the lads find solace in the recording studio: "We love being in the studio. I like it being such a peaceful type of thing for us. We have such hectic schedules and it gives us headspace, and you can get your emotions out in a song, you know?"
