5 Seconds of Summer will open the second night of this year's Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball.

The band were previously announced to perform at the London O2 Arena event on December 7.

Capital FM have now stated that the Australians will kick things off by opening the show at 6pm.

Also on the bill for that night are the likes of Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith.

Playing the event's first night (December 6) meanwhile are acts such as Take That, The Vamps and Olly Murs.

The Jingle Bell Ball is an offshoot of Capital FM's popular Summertime Ball, which takes place at London's Wembley Stadium.
