John Feldmann: '5SOS wanted to make a statement with new album'

Aussie pop-punk band 5 Seconds Of Summer are currently dominating the charts with their new album 'Sounds Good Feels Good' and their producer has revealed that their goal to make a musical statement was definitely met.

John Feldmann, who produced the album, told the Los Angeles Times that the band stuck to traditional and authentic recording methods to ensure the songs could really speak for themselves:

"These guys wanted to make a statement with this record. It's a rock record with guitars and drums and an actual orchestra. We kept everything as real as possible — playing everything, not drawing the sounds on a screen."

5SOS's bass player Calum Hood added that spending time with the other lads in a house in Los Angeles allowed them to create the new music organically and at their own pace: "There was time for us to just hang out as teenagers, which is essentially what we are. And that kind of gave us the freedom to delve into subjects that require a bit more thought."
