5 Seconds of Summer have reached No.2 on MTV's Stars chart after receiving a massive four million votes in just 12 hours.

The UK music television company are asking fans to tweet for their favourite act of 2015.

Australians 5 Seconds of Summer have shot up to No.2 on the list after bagging four million votes in just half a day.

They were previously placed at No.20 on the list.

Lady Gaga currently sits at No.1 on the chart with around 82 million votes, with 5 Seconds of Summer on 62 million.

At No.3 are One Direction, with Fifth Harmony and Lana Del Rey following.

Other names in the mix include Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna.

Voting closes on December 15 and the winner will be revealed four days later.
