5SOS star feels 'insanely lucky' to play Tokyo's Budokan venue

5 Seconds of Summer star Ashton Irwin has revealed his pride at playing Tokyo's Budokan venue.

The Australians headlined the iconic establishment today (February 23) on their Sounds Live Feels Live tour.

A host of big name acts have released live albums recorded in the venue, such as Deep Purple, Frank Sinatra and Dream Theater.

Speaking on Twitter after the show, Irwin said he couldn't believe his luck at headlining the Budokan.

He said: "I cannot believe we just played at the Budokan here in Tokyo!

"I feel so insanely lucky and happy and gah! Japanese 5sosfam are amazing! - ash."

Irwin added in a video that the show was one of his favourites of all time.

5 Seconds of Summer will now head to China as they continue the Asia leg of their tour.
