Laura Whitmore is confirmed as third celebrity contestant for Strictly Come Dancing 2016
Laura Whitmore is the third celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the brand new series of Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One. The announcement was made this morning (Wednesday 10 August) on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw, where Laura joined Grimmy in the studio to confirm she is taking part in the brand new series. “I have watched Strictly and been obsessed with the show since series 1. It's an incredible show and I feel so honoured to be asked to part of it. I'm not going to lie, I'm slightly petrified too!” said Laura. TV presenter Laura’s first major presenting job came after she beat 3,000 other hopefuls to win a coveted MTV VJ role. From there her presenting career has gone from strength to strength, reporting from music and film festivals around the world and interviewing some of the biggest names in show business from Coldplay to Sir Michael Caine, Justin Timberlake to Justin Bieber. She went on to anchor ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now and this year hosted online coverage for the BAFTAs and fronted The Brits Are Coming on ITV. More celebrity contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing will be announced in due course. Notes to Editors Laura joins Ed Balls and Will Young who have already been announced as contestants for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. Produced by BBC Studios, Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One for its 14th series in September 2016. With bases in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Salford, Cardiff, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dumbarton and Belfast, BBC Studios reflects and represents the diverse voices and creative talent from around the UK.
