Hosted by UK rap legends DJ Target, Krept and Konan, the competition sees six rising UK MCs travel to Birmingham to get a masterclass in rap, mentored by some of the biggest names in the business. The unsigned artists will once again move into a luxury penthouse and take part in challenges which showcase the skills you need to make it in the industry. DJ Target, Krept and Konan will decide the winner - who will be offered a single record deal with Krept and Konan’s label. Hailing from Deptford, South East London, Roc Nation’s Rapman is the genius behind Blue Story and Shiro’s Story - a storyteller by nature, he’s collaborated with some of the UK’s biggest charities and aims to educate the youth of today. Rapman has also worked with Krept and Konan on their single Ban Drill, directing the music video for the track. Mancunian Aitch has been a known entity on the UK scene since 2016, collaborating with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Jaykae, Stormzy and AJ Tracey. His solo work has topped the UK charts and in 2019 Taste (Make It Shake) went platinum. Young T & Bugsey are a hip hop duo from Nottingham. Shortlisted for the MTV Push: Ones To Watch in 2019, the pair have continued to drop hit after hit – recently going viral with fan favourite and TikTok viral sensation Don’t Rush. With a Mobo best newcomer nomination for his breakout album, platinum-selling rapper Yungen is at the forefront of the UK rap scene. Yungen has collaborated with Krept and Konan, Stormzy and Wretch 32 and his sound is ubiquitous on radio stations across the UK. Grime pioneer D Double E was part of the Nasty Crew alongside the likes of Kano, Stormin and Ghetts, before forming the Newham Generals and signing to Dizzee Rascal’s Dirtee Stank label. Described by Skepta as the 'greatest of all time', D Double E is said to have inspired the likes of Dizzee to start rapping. Boy Better Know CEO, JME is a huge British grime MC, songwriter and record producer from Hackney. Previously part of the grime collective Meridian Crew and Roll Deep alongside older brother Skepta, JME has soared up the album charts and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry. He’s known for speaking out on social issues and has been involved with the grime movement to galvanise young people to get interested in politics. Deno has been at the forefront of London’s afro-wave music scene, after catching the attention of Stormzy on one of his viral videos. He’s known for his catchy hooks and has had huge collaborations with AJ, Cadet, Da Beatfreakz, which have been streamed millions of times and lead to brand partnerships and acting roles. Wretch 32 is a global rapper, with multiple chart topping singles and millions of record sales, including the single Don’t Go which peaked at number one on the UK singles chart. The award winning artist has completed arena tours and national advertising campaigns - and was credited by host Charlie Sloth as the best Fire In The Booth 1Xtra had ever hosted. Legendary producers The Fanatix are a recording producer collective. They have built an impressive list of collaborators across the UK music scene, including Giggs, Yxng Bane, Beenie Ban and Popcaan – as well as working with household brands from Nike to Nissan. 2018’s Best Producer at the GRM Daily Rated Awards, the trio have seen their popularity with artists, writers, record labels and music publishers soar over the last few years. Ashleigh Jadee is a force in the creative industry and has worked as a director on huge music videos with the likes of Ms Banks, M Huncho and Joss Stone. Celebrity stylist Ayishat Akanbi has amassed a growing following. Her trademark style has won her clients across the music, fashion, film and TV industry. The stylist and writer has dressed Dizzee Rascal, among many others, and appeared in viral videos. DJ, producer and broadcaster Kenny Allstar has a musical journey spanning back to his pre-teens. Before joining 1Xtra, the south Lononder previously hosted the highest rated show on youth station Reprezent Radio as well as becoming the official DJ for rapper Sneakbo. Host of Radio 1 and 1Xtra’s Rap Show, Tiffany Calver has an unparalleled knowledge of the scene and a passion for championing the underdog. Her previous post at Kiss FM saw her become the first woman to host a national hip hop show and has opened up for some of the biggest global artists, including Fredo, Jay Z, Beyonce and Drake. The Rap Game UK is a 6x60' series made by Naked Television for BBC Three. It is commissioned by Fiona Campbell, Controller BBC Three and Ricky Cooper is the Commissioning Editor.
