Charli XCX praises Paris Hilton's music: 'She was ahead of her time'

British singer-songwriter Charli XCX has been discussing her favourite pop stars.

During her chat with OK! Magazine, the ‘Doing It’ singer named Britney Spears the “ultimate pop princess”, and she had praise for a more unexpected pop star in the form of celebrity socialite Paris Hilton.

Paris Hilton released her first single, ‘Stars Are Blind’ in 2006, which peaked at No. 18 in the US and No. 5 in the UK. She has released further singles including ‘Nothing In This World’, ‘Good Time’ featuring Lil Wayne and her most recent ‘High Off My Love’ alongside Birdman.

Speaking about Hilton’s musical career, Charli XCX said: “She's very intelligent and one of the first champions of celebrity culture.”

She was particularly complimentary about Paris’ debut single: “She was ahead of her time and her 'Stars Are Blind' track is an incredible pop song.”

Earlier this week, Charli XCX confirmed that she is not looking to collaborate with other artists any more as she wants to concentrate on her own music. Some of Charli XCX’s biggest hits have seen her working alongside Iggy Azalea, Icona Pop and Rita Ora.
