Cody Simpson to take part in United Nations' 'Happiness Initiative' campaign

Aussie heartthrob Cody Simpson has been chosen to take part in the United Nations' International Day Of Happiness campaign, which will see him select five songs based on suggestions from Twitter users to become part of the "world's happiest playlist".

The playlist will stream on the MixRadio app and is also set to feature song suggestions from U.N. Ambassadors and other musicians, including Ed Sheeran, James Blunt, and John Legend.

The singer issued a statement about taking part in the event and expressed his excitement:

"I am really pleased to be part of such an amazing campaign to raise awareness of International Day of Happiness... I hope everyone gets behind the day and shares the track that makes them happiest. I will be choosing five tracks the general public suggest to be part of the official playlist, #HappySoundsLike, launching on Friday March 20 for you to all listen to."

The star also recently announced a short run of dates that will take him over to the UK this spring and the full schedule can be seen below:

  • Wednesday, 6 May – London, O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire
  • Thursday, 7 May – Birmingham Institute
  • Friday 8 May – Manchester Ritz
