Cody Simpson on new album: 'It's the first step towards my true self'

Singer Cody Simpson has opened up about his new record and confessed that he feels as though it's the most liberating thing he has ever done.

During an interview with 360 magazine, the heartthrob explained that his new album 'Free' is something he's very proud of because it truly represents who he is as an artist:

"This album is such a liberating experience for me because it's the first step towards my true self. It's my first record basically, it's my first album 'technically'. The first one that I've - as a musician - been able to create from the very first guitar link to the very last mix of the song."

"I'm really kind of honest, so I don't really care about a big release debut of a song on the radio. I just like to test it live, and I love to ground it out, playing shows and putting demos out in line first. It's a more natural experience."

When asked what he likes about social media and the presence he maintains on his own accounts, Simpson admitted that he wants to spread positivity with the things he posts so he is very mindful of that: "I always want to share the right message. I try to relay positivity."
