Ed Sheeran confirms Olympics closing ceremony performance with Pink Floyd

Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he will be playing the Olympic Games closing ceremony with Pink Floyd.

The singer-songwriter has previously hinted at performing at the closing ceremony in London on August 12 but stopped short of confirming anything concrete.

However, he has revealed that he will be playing the ceremony - with a special performance of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' planned.

Sheeran will play the song with Pink Floyd, although it is reported that the only original member signed up so far is drummer Nick Mason. Talking about the Olympics closing ceremony, Sheeran said:

"I'm playing the closing ceremony – which I think is kinda cool right?"

He continued: "A lot of people think that I'm doing a song with The Who but I'm not – I'm doing a song with Pink Floyd. I'm doing 'Wish You Were Here'."
