Foo Fighters cancel New Zealand show after 'serious' road accident

Foo Fighters have cancelled an upcoming concert after a driver was injured and equipment wrecked in a road accident.

The band were due to perform a charity show at Auckland Town Hall on Friday (February 20).

However, they confirmed today (February 19) that the date will no longer go ahead following a "serious" road accident as gear was transported to the venue.

The band wrote in a statement: "It is with great regret that we advise that the Foo Fighters charity concert scheduled at the Auckland Town Hall tomorrow night (Friday 20 February, 2015) has been cancelled.

"A truck carrying essential band equipment was involved in a serious accident today whilst travelling from Christchurch to Auckland. Thankfully the driver is expected to be ok.

"The specialised equipment on the truck was so badly damaged it cannot be used. Replacement equipment is being flown from Los Angeles to Auckland in time for the Foo Fighters Mt Smart concert on Saturday night. The Auckland Mt Smart show will proceed as scheduled.

"Patrons who purchased tickets for the Friday Town Hall show will receive a full refund."

Foo Fighters' upcoming New Zealand and Australia schedule is as follows:

  • Feb. 21 - Auckland, Mt, Smart Stadium
  • Feb. 24 - Brisbane, Suncorp Stadium
  • Feb. 26 - Sydney, ANZ Stadium
  • Feb. 28 - Melbourne, Etihad Stadium
  • March 2 - Hobart, Derwent Entertainment Centre
  • March 4 - Adelaide, Coopers Stadium
  • March 8 - Perth, nib Stadium (moved from 7 March)
