Jake Bugg takes his best friends on tour

The Nottingham lad’s friends from the Clifton council estate where he grew up are currently on tour with him.

The nineteen-year-old explained: “My mates are on the road with me. They are on the tour bus.

“I think it’s good for them to get out of the estate for a bit, see the country and see some people.”

However, lots of lads on a bus leads to one thing, he said: “They need to start tidying up after themselves, the lounge is a mess.

“But I’m just happy I got the chance to do what I wanted to do.”

Bugg's career has taken off so much that he's only been back to Nottingham a few times in 2013, the singer-songwriter said: “I’ve only been back to Nottingham three or four times this year. I don’t miss Clifton. That life is strange to me now. I’m an outsider looking in."

The most he has spent in one place was when he recorded his album:

“The two weeks I spent in Malibu recording the album was the longest I’ve stayed anywhere for about two years.

“But I wouldn’t mind a little place there, or maybe Paris.”

Jake Bugg headlines the Crisis charity concert for the homeless in London's Eventim Apollo on December 20.
