My Chemical Romance on reaction to teaser and thoughts on the band's future

Ray Toro, the guitarist for My Chemical Romance, has opened up about the incredible reaction fans had to the teaser released by the band back in July, which was interpreted as a possible hint at a reunion at the time.

Chatting to the NME about the overwhelming response to the trailer, which was in fact just to get people excited about the 10th anniversary reissue of their album The Black Parade, and said:

“I feel like that took everybody aback. I don’t think we realised how dramatic that teaser trailer was. We were just looking for a cool way to announce the 10th anniversary – and we were all just blown away by the reaction.”

He added: “It makes you feel really good, because you know so many years later your work is still appreciated and it’s finding a new audience. One of the things we hear a lot that is that people who weren’t even born when that album or when the band first started are somehow into us. I remember when I was in high school,  listening to The Misfits. You’d never get to see them live back then but it ends up getting passed down and becomes almost mythical in a sense, so I think that’s pretty cool if that does happen with My Chem.”
