Normani's "Motivation" lands to critical acclaim

It's a year since Kahlid and Normani's Love Lies dominated the airwaves, and now the superstar is set to dominate again with Motivation which was released today (August 16).

Normani’s new upbeat, hip-popping single is co-written by the singer herself and superstar writers Max Martin, Ilya Salmanzadeh, Savan Kotecha, and last but not least, Ariana Grande, whose vocals feature on the track.

The video is brimming with dance moves and starts with a young Normani dancing in front of a TV set watching a grown-up Normani sing the song. It ends up with a street dance party on a hot sultry Los Angeles night. The video was directed by Dave Meyers and Daniel Russell.

As her two previous tracks featured Khalid and Sam Smith, Motivation is the first solo single from her with no featured vocals.

Motivation is the follow-up to her duet with Sam Smith, Dancing With A Stranger, which peaked at No. 3 in the UK singles and No. 7 in the US Billboard charts.

Motivation has already received heaps of praise from Normani's friends and peers such as Khalid, Halsey, Ella Mai, Lizzo, Zara Larsson, Troye Sivan, Charlie PuthJoJo and Kehlani on Twitter.

Billboard, Forbes, Rolling Stone and other media are also heaping praise on the track, with Forbes calling it a "Perfectly-crafted pop song".
