One Direction have added three new dates to their upcoming Where We Are North American tour.

The lads are due to perform in the continent in August, September and October as they continue to plug their latest album 'Midnight Memories'.

Three new shows in Philadelphia, Detroit and Pasadena have today (January 27) been confirmed.

They will play a second concert at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field on August 14, another show at Detroit's Ford Field on August 17 and a date at Pasadena's Rose Bowl on September 11.

Tickets for the new gigs will on sale from February 8.

Niall Horan meanwhile took to Twitter today to confirm that the group are due to start writing their fourth album.

He said: "Writing time! #newmusic! Buzzin! Can't wait t see the lads too!"
