One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has effused praise on the band's fans after performing three nights in London.

The boyband played a trio of shows on the trot at the city's Wembley Stadium as part of their Where We Are world tour.

It seems to have struck something inside of the group, who repeatedly expressed their awe at playing the stadium.

Singer Tomlinson took to Twitter after the third gig on Sunday (June 8) to add:

"We will never forget this weekend! Thank you so much for making it happen. Eternally grateful!!"

Next up for the tour meanwhile is a date in Stockholm, Sweden on June 13.
