One Direction's Niall Horan has been praising the talents of athletes since the London 2012 Olympics began and he's showing no signs of stopping after yet another momentous win by an Irish sporting star.

Horan, who comes from Ireland, took to Twitter last night (August 5) to congratulate boxer John Joe Nevin on his success and he returned to the social networking site this afternoon to talk about the incredible skill of female boxer Katie Taylor:

"katie taylor is unbelievable.. she is the best female boxer on the planet! doesn't know what its like to lose...heroic performance...cmon ireland."

Taylor secured an Olympic medal today after beating Great Britain's Natasha Jonas in her 60kg division quarter-final and the 'One Thing' heartthrob added:

"26-15 katie taylor you are a legend! irish boxing is on fire."
