One Direction's Niall Horan reveals Olympic boxing ticket frustration

One Direction star Niall Horan has revealed his frustration at not having a ticket for the upcoming boxing finals at this summer's Olympic Games.

Irish boxer John Joe Nevin, who hails from Horan's hometown of Mullingar, has reached the semi-finals of the men's bantamweight event at London 2012, which are due to take place on Friday (August 10).

Horan has been behind him all the way - watching his quarter-final victory at the ringside - but it seems that despite his global superstar status, he might not being able to get a ticket for the upcoming sold out final this weekend (August 11). He tweeted:

"Really want tickets for the boxing finals on saturday! sold out."

The 'Up All Night' star also tweeted a radio station to see if they could run a competition for tickets, before adding: "By the way that was a joke haha..all i want to see is @johnJoeNevin gettin a medal!"

Horan later tweeted that he had spoken to Nevin directly and expressed his pride at the hometown hero. He tweeted: "On the phone to @johnJoeNevin for the last hour! He's a sound lad!We grew up 100 yards away from eachother, now he's goin for an olympic medal."
