Zayn Malik has spoken about One Direction fans who want his relationship to fail.

The singer is currently dating Little Mix star Perrie Edwards but overprotective fans have often appeared to want the partnership to crumble apart.

The same fate has seemingly fallen on bandmate Harry Styles, who is often romantically linked to different females.

Speaking to Now magazine, Malik admitted that he is left a little confused by people who want his relationship to break apart. He said of the subject:

'I don't really understand that."

He continued: "I guess there's a sense of jealousy because I have a girlfriend now while I was a bit of a 'bad boy' before."

Malik meanwhile recently commented on his failed relationship with fellow X Factor graduate Rebecca Ferguson.

The pair dated after leaving the show in late 2011 but the 'One Thing' singer said that things "ended badly".
