Transgender girl wants to look like Harry Styles after surgery

A girl who wants to look like One Direction star Harry Styles has opened up on her desire to have surgery.

Catrina Best hit the news last year after revealing her wish to change her sex and then model herself on the 'Kiss You' singer.

The 20-year-old appeared on ITV's This Morning today (January 4) to speak about her willingness to undergo treatment and operations on the NHS to change her sex.

Best was diagnosed with gender identity disorder last year and she is using her resemblance to Harry Styles as the inspiration for her new look. She said:

"When I first saw Harry I thought I looked like him, we could be brothers or brother and sister. It definitely helps [to have the appearance of Styles as my influence]. I have been in touch with other teenagers who want to change from being boy or girl and they've also said it helps them to have role model to base their looks upon."

She added: "I'm waiting to see with the budget cuts if [the NHS] will still provide that service. If they do, I will have hormone replacement therapy and testosterone injections, then surgery to remove my breasts. I'm not sure yet if I'll have bottom surgery, not everyone does as it involves a lot of surgery."

Best is originally from Northern Ireland but moved to Portugal with her native mother as a teenager, prompting her to try to become more feminine - something which did not bear fruit. She added:

"In Portugal they are a more closed minded society. I needed to fit in so I tried to be a girl, I grew my hair, wore dresses and even had a relationship with boy. But it went terribly. I felt bad for him as he couldn't understand what was wrong."
