One Direction's new charity single looks set to be the best-selling Red Nose Day track ever.

The British based boyband are releasing the track 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' as this year's Comic Relief single.

It seems the group's global appeal has struck a chord, with the song hitting No.1 in 63 countries across the world.

Chief executive of Comic Relief Kevin Cahill revealed the track is the first time a Red Nose Day single has achieved worldwide success. He said:

"We couldn't have asked for a better band to record the official Red Nose Day single in our 25th year. It's an absolute coup and the first time ever we have a massive global-selling single for Comic Relief."

He continued: "Their genuine commitment to the work we fund is touching and I know that their contribution will raise a huge amount to make a real difference."

This year's Red Nose Day will take place on March 15.
