One Direction's Niall Horan has denied the band were "drunk" at their recent Louisville concert.

The chart-topping group - also comprising Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - are currently on the US leg of their hugely successful world tour 'Take Me Home'.

After performing at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville on Sunday (June 16) many people were left speculating whether or not the group were consuming alcohol on stage after  a video showed member Tomlinson grimacing as he took a swig from his water bottle.

Horan angrily took to Twitter today (June 18) to dismiss the untrue rumours.

He said: "I'm clearing this one up now! This bull about us being drunk on stage! No way is that true !ever ever! Who is making this sh*t up?

He added: "We give our best on stage every night! And for 1 person to start a rumour! Just messes it all up (sic)."

Shortly afterwards, Horan seemingly realised why people had jumped to the conclusion - and light-heartedly dismissed such thoughts.

The Irish heartthrob explained: "Ah now I get why people are saying it ! Hahah! Me and @louis_tomlinson do that every night! Pretend there is something in the water bottles. Right I'm goin back t sleep! Rant over! Back to being nialler ! LAZY (sic)."
