One Direction's Liam Payne: "We’re never going to escape the idea of being young"

One Direction singer Liam Payne has admitted that the band will never fully move on from the "idea of being young".

The group broke onto the scene as five fresh-faced teens and since leaving the X Factor in 2010, their style and personalities have matured.

The 'Kiss You' stars have also revealed that their upcoming third album will feature a deeper sound as they attempt more rock.

Speaking to GQ, however, Liam Payne conceded that their role as a boyband means that they will rarely escape the clutches of being regarded as 'young'. He said:

"I think in the industry we’re in and the type of audience we have, we’re never going to escape the idea of being young. Which I don’t mind myself. I mean, who wants to grow up anyway?"

The singer continued: "I remember when I watched this documentary as a kid about Donny Osmond and I think it got to him a bit, always having to be clean-cut and the nice guy. Maybe it will happen to us. Although we get away with far too much so why would we want it to stop?"
