Paul Weller became the father of twins over the weekend after his wife gave birth on Saturday (January 14).

In a statement released on Weller's official website today (January 16), the names of the children were confirmed as John Paul and Bowie.

It is the first children that Weller and wife Hannah Andrews have had together since getting married in 2010.

The statement reads:

"Paul and his wife Hannah are happy to announce that their twins John Paul and Bowie were born on Saturday (January 14). Both boys are healthy and doing well following the birth and Paul and Hannah are thrilled and over the moon. Paul would like to thank his fans for all their well wishes over the last few months. Congratulations to Paul and Hannah!"

The good news comes only a couple of months after Weller announced the release of his next album 'Sonik Kicks', the follow-up to the lauded 'Wake Up The Nation'.
