Rihanna to receive humanitarian honour from Harvard University

'Where Have You Been' sensation Rihanna has just been crowned the recipient of Harvard University's Humanitarian of the Year Award.

She was chosen for her work with the Clara and Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program, which "works to improve the quality of life for communities globally in the areas of health, education, arts, and culture", as well as her dedication to promoting education.

Rihanna is set to accept the coveted Peter J. Gomes honour in Cambridge, Massachusetts on February 28.

S. Allen Counter, the Harvard Foundation director, issued a statement on the news and said: "Rihanna has charitably built a state-of- the-art centre for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados."
