Selena Gomez confirms collaboration with BLACKPINK
Selena Gomez has confirmed a collaboration with BLACKPINK on their upcoming single.
The pop megastar took to Twitter to announce that she and the South Korean girl group - consisting of Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo and Rosé - have joined forces on the currently-untitled track which is set for release later this month on August 28.
Alongside the artwork, which resembles chocolate melting and is in black and pink, Gomez wrote: "So SO excited to announce @ygofficialblink and I have a new song coming out August 28th! (sic)"
BLACKPINK had teased that they had a mystery artist set to feature on their next song when they announced their debut album, which is set for release in October of 2020. The record also features the lead single, 'How You Like That'.
Gomez released her new album Rare in January this year, and has since been penning hits in lockdown.
Meanwhile, she recently admitted that she's "always dreamt" of doing a song with Taylor Swift. The 'Lose You To Love Me' hitmaker describes her best friend as "family". She said: "I've always dreamt of doing a song with Taylor. We both wanted to do that. It just feels like we're family".
On Monday [August 10], Gomez also announced in a video teaser [watch below] the virtual premiere of her upcoming reunion with former Wizards of Waverly Place co-star David Henrie for his directorial feature debut, This is the Year. Fans are invited to a LIVE, one-time only virtual premier event benefitting the Plus1 COVID-19 Relief Fund. The premiere is scheduled for August 28 at 7:30pm ET.
Gomez said: "With all the craziness going on in the world, a feel-good movie is just what we need. Most premieres are only for a very small, select group of people, but not this one.
"We want all of you to watch it with us.
"Just by purchasing a ticket, you've contributed to the Plus1 COVID-19 Relief Fund".
Henrie tweeted: "Couldn’t be more humbled to bring you a feel good movie that @selenagomez executive produced and I directed called @thisistheyearfilm !"
The digital premiere is set to be hosted by TikTok stars Charli and Dixie D'Amelio, and will feature a Q&A with Henrie, Gomez, and the rest of the cast, plus a performance by lovelytheband.
