International Legendary Artist, Southeast Inspirational Choir (SEIC), to Celebrate 50 Years Of Music, Ministry and Hits Along With Some of Gospel Music’s Biggest Stars

Houston, TX (January 24, 2020- “Southeast” as they are fondly called, will sing some of their most requested songs including “Inspire Me”, “Full Joy” and breakout hit “My Liberty”, led by highly decorated Yolanda Adams, at their 50th Reunion Celebration set to begin at 5 pm Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Silverlake Church in Pearland TX. The red carpet starts at 4:15 pm.

The Celebration will also include a special musical tribute to founders Brenda Waters, Carl Preacher and Shirley Joiner of the famed BC&S by former Southeast choir member Yolanda Adams, Grammy and Stellar Award Nominee Donald Lawrence, Kathy Taylor, The Walls Group, and Motown’s Gene Moore, who was also a member.

Southeast began their memorable journey as a combined Mt. Olive and Outreach Missionary Baptist Church Youth (ages 11-15) choir in 1970 and grew to become a regular feature in churches, concert halls, and radio. Houston’s Southeast Inspirational Choir frequently landed at the top of gospel playlists and billboards throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s; and on the second Sunday this February 2020, will mark what would be their 50th Choir Celebration.

With an institutionalized sound, the international recording artist boasts of 10 LPs, a Grammy nod, television appearances and numerous credits that include Ray Charles, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Bobby Jones, and numerous national and international performances. They’ve helped launch the careers of several artists and continue to inspire new artists today. Gospel legend, Pastor John P Kee recalls, “Her mom used to let me come back there and practice and write my little songs in that little room and she loved me too...” speaking of Southeast co-founder Shirley Joiner.

Powerhouse songstress Kim Burrell is another vocalist who, along with other celebrity surprise guests, will sing and accompany the Choir musical at the Celebration. The Reunion Choir will be directed by Rise Joiner-Peters, daughter of the late Shirley Joiner along with other Ministers of Music. Local and other fans are abuzz with excitement as they anticipate the reunion-of-the year, Southeast Inspirational Choir - Houston’s national treasure.

The timing for this momentous concert and legacy salute couldn’t be better than “2020” as gospel and secular patrons witness a renewed interest in the gospel music industry.
