will.i.am has admitted that he often went hungry as a child.

The Black Eyed Peas star, who was at No.2 in the UK midweeks with The Script collaboration, 'Hall of Fame,' told STV that he was forced to miss meals as a youngster in order to travel to a school in a better neighbourhood:

''Sometimes I would miss breakfast and when you're on food stamps and lunch tickets, missing breakfast is not good for a kid.''

The Voice judge, who last week was involved in a minor car accident with Cheryl Cole, added that as soon as he could afford it, he moved his whole family out to a nicer area of Los Angeles:

''I moved my mom, cousins, my uncles and my grandma. I moved them to the Valley to be near the rabbis. It was either the drive-bys or rabbis and I picked the rabbis.''
