Adele has taken to her official blog to apologise personally for the string of shows that had to be cancelled recently after she fell ill with a chest infection. 

The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker revealed that she was so determined not to let her fans down that she even started her journey to the venue in Cardiff before realising she really was too ill to perform:

"I'm still not well enough. I woke up feeling a bit better but not by a lot, but decided to head towards cardiff anyway in the hope I'd be able to sing tonight. Half way there I realised it was unrealistic and so have come back home to rest. I apologise profusely, I know many of you would have travelled to cardiff today for the show. I'm so so sorry!"

Updating the world on her condition, she added "I'm still breathless and my chest is disgusting."
