Klaxons win record sleeve prize

The Klaxon's second album, 'Surfing the Void', has won the Best Art Vinyl prize for 2010.

The sleeve, which depicts a cat in an astronaut suit, beat 49 other shortlisted covers.

Art Vinyl is a company that was set up to promote record sleeve art as real art. The Klaxon's cat artwork won as it showed "the power a bit of humour can have when added to the music design mix".

Caribou album 'Swim' came second place, whilst an EP from the German dance label Cadenza, came third.

Goldfrapp, Arcade Fire, the Chemical Brothers and Scissor Sisters were amongst the nominees.

Fleet Foxes won the prize last year for their self-titled debut album.
