Vesta Williams found dead

Vesta Williams, the R&B singer, who rose to fame in the '80s, has been found dead on Thursday evening (September 22) in a hotel room.

The 53-year-old is known for her hits 'Congratulations', 'Sweet Sweet Love' and 'Once Bitten Twice Shy'.

Williams also starred in the sitcom, 'Sister Sister' serveral times in the late '90s.

Besides her solo work, she was a member of the singing group, Wild Honey, and was a backup singer for singing legends such as Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker, Luther Vandross and others.

Originally from Ohio, she moved with her family to Los Angeles where she appeared on television as part of the singing group. The Williams Sisters. In the earlier part of her singing career, she sang jingles for McDonalads, Coca-Cola and Honda.

John Kades of the L.A. County coroner's office told the Associated Press that it "could be a drug overdose".

No foul play is suspected.
