Former X Factor contestant Katie Waissel has split from her husband Brad Alphonso after just two months of marriage.

The singer wed the male model after a two-month romance during a secret ceremony in September in New Orleans.

But the 26-year-old has now called the relationship off, ending it at the start of December. 

Her spokesperson released the following statement:

"We can confirm that Katie has separated from her husband. It's a very sad time for both parties. Katie has now gone back to LA and is putting her focus on recording with her Red Velvet project."

Waissel  rose to fame as one of the most hated contestants on The X Factor under Cheryl Cole's mentorship in 2010.

The couple have matching heart-shaped tattoos on their fingers.

Neither of the couple have mentioned each other on their respective Twitter pages since October. In early December, both posted cryptic tweets, suggesting this may have been when they parted ways.

On December 1, Alphonso wrote: "There are no mistakes in life."

Meanwhile, his estranged wife has been open about going through a hard time as early as November 25, on her Twitter page when she tweeted: "The bottom of the glass is where I left my heart. Once upon a time I was falling in love..."
