Today LA-based singer-songwriter Angelnumber 8 releases “Habit,” the first track off of his upcoming project Digital Tribal. The track blends many genres that helped shape his homelife and surroundings, filled with retro-pop hooks and dancehall-like production. On “Habit”, Angel is stuck in a dilemma of confessing his love while fighting for reciprocation. “Tangible things are cool but all that running from yourself is just going to leave you breathless ” Like the rest of his project, the song borrows from many styles old and new in an attempt to fuse together the sound of his youth with his current sound.

Despite modeling for brands like Denim Tears, Stussy, and Yeezy, Angel has always been close to music innovation, growing up in some of the most influential music cities. As a first-generation Liberian-American, Angel was constantly surrounded by a plethora of musical genres introduced to him through his parents and his upbringing in cities like New York and Houston, Angel looks to reflect on this upbringing with Digital Tribal. Invoking sounds of 70s Dancehall, 90s rock, and modern electronic music, the project is an exploration of Angel’s past and creates a new genre that aims to fuse these juxtaposing sounds to showcase their similarities.
