Cheryl Cole raises £40,000 for charity

Girls Aloud beauty and solo star Cheryl Cole was delighted to announce that she has raised a significant amount of money for charity from her recent tour packages.

The songstress offered her fans the chance to buy passes for meet-and-greet sessions that took place backstage during her recent run of dates in support of her album, 'A Million Lights', and she came out from them with the impressive sum of £40,000 that will be donated to the Cheryl Cole Foundation.

The 'Promise This' singer tweeted (December 7): "I am sooo happy I just found out we raised £40,000 for my Cheryl Cole Foundation from our VIP meet and greet on the #AMillionLightsTour :D."

She launched the Cheryl Cole Foundation last year to help disadvantaged young people in her native North East England and a mission statement written by Cole on the organisation's website explains: "Through my Foundation, I hope to show disadvantaged and unemployed young people that someone believes in them."
