George Michael has been discharged from hospital after being involved in a motorway accident.

As previously reported, the veteran singer was taken to hospital after a car crash near Hertfordshire on May 16.

Eyewitnesses said they saw the Wham! star falling out of a car at full speed and tumbling across the road.

A statement released on the singer's official website has confirmed that he has now returned home following the incident. It reads:

"We can confirm that George Michael has been discharged from hospital and continues to rest and recuperate. He is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support."

One eyewitness of the accident meanwhile said: "I suddenly saw the back door on the driver's side open. A body appeared and went bounce, bounce, bounce. He was spinning as he came towards me."
