Cory Monteith death accidental, says final coroner report

Cory Monteith's overdose earlier this year has been confirmed as accidental.

The 31-year-old Glee actor passed away in a Canadian hotel in July after suffering from a deadly mix of heroin and alcohol.

A final coroner report has now been released British Columbia Ministry of Justice, which states that his death was accidental.

It noted that his heroin use was intravenous and that two empty bottles of champagne and multiple glasses were also found in his room.

Monteith's recent admission to rehab may have also affected his body's acceptance of drugs, with the report adding:

"After a period of cessation from opioid drug use, previously tolerated drug concentration levels may become toxic and fatal."

The actor's Glee colleague Jane Lynch meanwhile recently paid tribute to the late star at the 2013 Emmy Awards with a special speech.

The TV show's fifth series, which is currently showing in the US, is due to also pay tribute to Monteith.
