Justin Bieber was given a speeding ticket yesterday following a 100mph chase through Los Angeles.

The Canadian teen idol, who was reportedly driving the Fisker Karma that manager Scooter Braun presented to him on The Ellen Degeneres Show, was pulled over by California Highway Patrol officers for breaking the speed limit on the 101 Freeway, according to the L.A. Times.

The paper also reports that the 'Boyfriend' singer insisted he was being chased by paparazzi. However, Dennis Zine, a local councillor who called the authorities after witnessing Bieber weaving in and out of traffic, argued that shouldn’t be an excuse:

"This was very bizarre, very outrageous and showed a total disregard for life and property.

"The way (Bieber) was driving was totally reckless, I would have arrested him if I had pulled him over. I wouldn't have given him a ticket and let him go."
