Pop sensation Kelly Clarkson has admitted that her first date with fiancé Brandon Blackstock happened on an awful day that led her to believe their relationship was probably doomed to fail.

Although the pair are now engaged, she explained to February's Cosmopolitan magazine that they first went out on the same day that her idol, Whitney Houston, had died:

"We've known each other for years, but we didn't start talking until the Super Bowl last February... This is the funniest/worst thing ever: One of my superhero idols is Whitney Houston, and the day she died was our first date. I was like 'This is a bad omen'."
