Kings of Leon confirm new album title and release date

Kings of Leon have revealed the title of their forthcoming sixth studio album.

The band – comprising Caleb, Nathan, Jared and Matthew Followill – have confirmed that their upcoming LP will be named 'Mechanical Bull'.

'Mechanical Bull' will be released on September 24 and is the follow up to 2010’s 'Come Around Sun Down'.

The album will be preceded by a lead single titled 'Super Soaker' which is expected to be released in July.

Earlier this year the band’s bassist, Jared Followill, spoke to NME about the new Kings of Leon record. Jared said: "I thought we were going to make a really mature album but I'm amazed how youthful it sounds. It's like a mix of 'Youth & Young Manhood' and 'Because Of The Times'."

Throughout June and July Kings of Leon will play a number of UK gigs starting at London’s O2 Arena on June 12. They will also be headlining this year’s V Festival in August.
