Lady Gaga: 'I'm a proud female singer-songwriter'

Earlier this week, Lady Gaga was announced as the recipient of the inaugural Contemporary Icon Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame and she has now opened up about the award, telling her fans that she's a 'proud female songwriter'.

The 'Born This Way' sensation will receive the honour at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 19 and after reading an article about the exciting news from Billboard, Gaga replied to the publication via Twitter and posted a correction, adding that she actually writes all of her own material.

She tweeted: "@Billboard just one revision should be made to that article. I've had a hand in writing ALL my hits. A proud female songwriter!"

Lady Gaga, meanwhile, was recently confirmed to star in Ryan Murphy's forthcoming new season of 'American Horror Story', which will be called 'Hotel'. Actor Matt Bomer, who will also be in the show, told MTV News: "I know that I’ll be working with Stefani [Germanotta], Lady Gaga, pretty extensively, so I’m excited about that.”
