Lady Gaga to play Cilla Black in Dionne Warwick biopic
Lady Gaga has landed the role of Cilla Black in a new movie about the life of Dionne Warwick.
The film, confirmed at the Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 13), will focus on a period of Warwick's life in the early 1960s.
Former Destiny's Child star LeToya Luckett will play Warwick, while Danny Glover will act as her dad.
Cilla Black sparred with the singer after her version of 'Anyone Who Had a Heart' proved more successful than Warwick's original.
Gaga recently flexed her acting muscles in American Horror Story: Hotel, winning a Golden Globe in the process.
Speaking about Luckett playing her in the movie, Warwick commented:
"She is perfect and she has exactly the right look. She will bring out what is needed for this part."
The legendary singer also said she regarded the late Black as her 'nemesis' because "she stole my music".
The film will be based on an autobiography written by Warwick.
