Lady Gaga fans create worldwide Twitter trend after she axes Born This Way Ball tour

Little Monsters around the world have joined together on social networking site Twitter to send messages to a very sad Lady Gaga, who has cancelled the rest of her tour due to an injury that now needs surgery.

The modern pop icon revealed that she has synovitis, which is the medical term for inflammation of the synovial membrane, and explained that after hiding the injury from her crew and fans for some time it's now at the point where she's finding it hard to walk and will have to undergo an operation because she has a "labral tear of the right hip".

Her fans have put on a united front in spite of the sad news, which means that the rest of her Born This Way Ball tour has now been completely cancelled, and created a hashtag (pictured left) through which they have been sending her well-wishes. It has also made it into the Top 10 worldwide trending topics list on Twitter and some of the highlights can be read below:

"@LGMonsterFacts Thank You For The BTW Ball Gaga. Thank you for putting your entire body & soul on stage every night; you are a Queen"

"@Elliot_Friar Thank You For The BTW Ball Gaga. Even though I didn't attend, millions of others did. The abrupt ending makes the occasion more special."

"@Almaricano: This tour fulfilled my dreams, gave me new friends & made me a braver person. I had the time of my life. Thank You For The BTW Ball Gaga"

"@StefaniBadKid: You put so much energy just to make us happy. Thank You For The BTW Ball Gaga, you were brilliant. ♡"
