Lady Gaga has continued her dialogue with One Direction after tweeting the group more words of encouragement.

Some sections of the crowd at Sunday's (August 25) MTV VMAs in Brooklyn booed the boyband when they collected their Song of the Summer award.

This irked Gaga, who later spoke to the lads backstage and revealed her disgust at the dissenters.

She has now tweeted the group directly on Twitter, saying: "You know what @onedirection ? Your fans REALLY love you, and it's beautiful to see! Enjoy your Moonman! Love, Seashell Girl *winks* xx."

It follows some praise from the One Direction boys, with Louis Tomlinson previously tweeting: "Also @ladygaga is a f*cking legend! Such a nice woman!!"

Bandmate Liam Payne meanwhile said after the event: "Morning everyone what a night yesterday was would like to thank @ladygaga for her support yesterday and her extraordinary outfits ;)."
